The GERTEC Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH has developed a new, innovative mixing process for the production of foam concrete and mineral foams, as well as the associated mixing technology. With this mixing technique it is possible to create a continuously and, at a keystroke, a qualitatively most significant mineral foam that is directly fed from the plant to concreting.

While in conventional mixing methods, the large differences in the components density (foam:  slurry, ca. 1:35) rather hinder a homogeneous mixing, the designers of GERTEC have just taken this small difference to use in an ingenious way.

The density and amount of foam is just set and controlled as the density and amount of finished mineral foam. The plant can therefore be adapted optimally to the most varied recipes and mixtures. For the preparation of the mineral foam, firstly a binder suspension (slurry) is produced with water and the selected binders (cement, powered limestone, etc.) in a mixer. This slurry is temporarily stored in a buffer tank. From there, the slurry is continuously fed to the foam concrete mixing plant and mixed with the likewise continuously generated foam by the plant, to absolutely homogeneous and very stable mineral foam. Foam production and mixing process take place in a hermetically closed system. The measurement and control devices of the plant ensure a consistent mixture quality and the necessary constancy of the physical properties. This new, optimally to the task adapted mixing process allows the production of extremely stable mineral foams and lighter foam concretes in a density range of about 80 to 800 kg/ m³.

 

Due to the continuous process the actual mixer is very small in relation to the high flow rate capacity. The plant and the therewith produced mineral foam are therefore distinguished by unsurpassed energy efficiency. Due to simple modifications to the dosing and mixing devices, the mixing plant can be optimally adapted to formulations for foam concretes with higher density and cover the full range of aerated concrete lightweight materials.

Another field of application of the new method will be the insulation and thermal insulation of prefabricated components and hollow bricks. All components of the system are scalable over a wide range: From small laboratory systems to large industrial plants for every output range.

Although originally designed for stationary use, the foam concrete mixing plants are very compact even at high flow rate capacities and can be performed transportable. Because of that the use at the construction site, for example manufacture of compensating floors, for cavity filling and insulation on site, can be performed easily.
